William E. (Bill) Clayton, AScT., RHI, RRO
Bill Clayton joined Wells Consulting as an Associate in April of 1993 and is the Principal Roofing Inspector. Bill is a Registered Building Technologist ( A.Sc.T. ) and brings twenty five years of building envelope and roofing related construction and facilities management experience to the Wells Consulting portfolio. Mr. Clayton is located in White Rock, BC.
Bill is involved in both consulting and roofing inspection services provided to clients of Wells Consulting in the Lower Mainland area. He is an accepted independent roofing inspector accredited by RCABC and RICABC. Bill is also a Registered Roof Observer (RRO), accredited by the Roofing Consultants Institute of Raleigh, NC., one of only about 250 in North America able to use the title. In addition, Bill is a qualified Registered Home Inspector (RHI) certified by CAHI and ASHI.
Prior to joining Wells Consulting, Bill was the Regional Superintendent of Buildings for Transport Canada Pacific Region, Airports.
Bill's responsibilities included:
condition surveys of all components including roofs for Transport Canada buildings in B.C.
building design review and critique
operational and maintenance management for Transport Canada buildings
failure investigation and problem solving on Transport Canada building roofs
Bill began his Federal Public Service in Ottawa where he served as construction manager for many projects ranging from the Parliament Buildings to the Governor General's residence at Rideau Hall. Immediately prior to transferring from Ottawa, Bill was the facilities manager for eight major buildings in downtown Ottawa.
Bill was educated in Ontario, graduating in Architectural Technology from Ryerson Polytechnical Institute. Bill has attended and graduated many courses delivered by the Roofing Industry Educational Institute and RCABC.Bill was a founding director of the BC Building Envelope Council, and served in many executive roles including Treasurer. He is a founding director of the Canadian Association of Home Inspectors (British Columbia) and is a past President of CAHI (BC). He is also a past chairman of IGRAG (Inter-Governmental Roofing Advisory Group). Bill is a member of the Roofing Consultants Institute, and is also the owner of Thorough-Fair Building Consultants Ltd., a company specializing in pre purchase residential building condition surveys and reports.
